A sudden destructive fire has forced road closures, evacuations and is threatening Orange County homes in Anaheim,CA.
Tonight (Tuesday) saw the onset of the fire at around 10PM. It moved quickly covering 20 acres in half an hour, then 35 acres by only 11.30 PM.
30 Fire engines and 100 firefighters were at the fire by 10.30 PM, with the fire burning south of 91.
The 241 Toll Road has now been closed at Windy Ridge. The fire is being assisted by the 50 mph humid winds which is prompting a red fire warning from the NWS.
Spokesman for the fire service are saying that the firefighters are working hard and performing excellently to extinguish the fire. And are in great hopes that they will be soon be able to contain it.
They also mentioned that the West is where they are trying to keep the fire away from , as it is in the direction of the residential area. So they are using their efforts to direct the fire in the eastern part.
At this present time there is no direct threat to residents in the area. Although if the firefighters are not able to keep the fire contained in the east, there will directions made to move people away from Anaheim Hills.
Residents of the area are being told to be ready for late night evacuations. As the fire is inching towards homes.
