Hot Neetu Chandra's on a wet footing. Hah, quite literally. Neetu Chandra, reportedly, has enacted a sensuous bathing scene in 'The Apartment'… and comparisons are being drawn between the late Smita Patil's outdoor clean up in 'Chakra' and her soapy effort in the Jagmohan Mundhra flick.

"I have been compared to Smitaji ever since I did 'Traffic Signal'," declares NC in a media talk. "I know that Smitaji has done a similar bathing scene in 'Chakra', but that was outdoors and this one is in a run down broken bathroom. Smitaji was a legend, and if I can be one per cent of what she was, my life is set!."

Chandra, however, states that she wasn't totally nervous about this watery move. "Jag sir said that he would present me aesthetically and that I could call the shots and get the scene edited out if I did not like the end results."

Query her on her family's reaction to this bold step… and Chandru asserts, "I'm only answerable to my work, and nobody else. And I take my own decisions."

Guess, it's a watered down matter….

BEIJING — A powerful earthquake in northwest China killed at least 67 people and left many others buried under debris early Wednesday, the state said.

The quake, which struck at 7:49 a.m. in Qinghai Province, was reported as having a magnitude of 7.1 by China’s earthquake administration. The United States Geological Survey recorded it as 6.9.

According to Xinhua, the earthquake struck 240 miles southeast of Golmud, a town of about 130,000 on the Tibetan plateau. Golmud is perhaps best known as the site of the world’s largest salt lake.

The China Earthquake Networks Center said epicenter had been in Yushu County, an area sparsely populated with farmers and herders, mostly ethnic Tibetans.

China National Radio said that 90 percent of the homes in the area had collapsed but that schools and government buildings had largely remained standing.

Karsum Nyima, an employee of a local television station in Yushu, told the national broadcaster, CCTV, that the early morning quake had sent people running into the streets.

“All of a sudden, the houses collapsed,” he said. “It was a terrible earthquake. In the park, a Buddhist pagoda fell off. Everyone is in the street in front of their houses. They are trying to find family members.”

In the same broadcast, Wu Yong, an officer with the Chinese army, said that the road to the airport was impassable and that soldiers were digging out people from collapsed homes by hand. “The most important thing now is that this place is far from everything, with few accessible rescue troops available,” said. “I feel like the number of dead and injured will keep going up.”

State news media reported that 3,000 troops would be sent to the area to assist in rescue efforts.

Last August, Golmud was hit by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake that destroyed dozens of homes but caused no deaths. Qinghai is an ethnic melting pot of Tibetans, Mongols and Han Chinese. It is adjacent to Sichuan Province, where 87,000 people died in a powerful earthquake in 2008.

Still off through This Week end, but I cannot help myself from writing about "Lost," Episode so a quick review of tonight's episode (along with some thoughts on where we are in this final season) coming up just as soon as I'm well enough for a fajita field trip...

"Whoa. Dude." -Hurley

Well, we're clearly cooking with gas at this point in the season. Desmond's return has goosed the narrative stakes in both the sideways universe and the real one, two of the three island factions have finally come together(*), stuff blew up left and right(**), Des and Locke are trying to kill each other in the two timelines, and the sideways world again was used well to bring back a character whose time on the show felt like it came to too abrupt an end in the real timeline.

(*) Albeit in an episode that saw the creation of another faction in the Richard/Ben/Miles group, since groups on "Lost" are forever picking sides and walking off, going all the way back to when Jack took half the Oceanic survivors into the caves back in season one.

(**) Albeit with explosions that continued this season's trend of unimpressive CGI work. Whatever cuts ABC's made in the show's budget the last couple of years, the digital FX department has definitely been a big victim.

My fear, though, is that it's taken us too long to get to this point.

In the early years of the show, a "Lost" episode and a "Lost" season tended to be constructed the same way: an exciting beginning, then a lot of narrative throat-cleaning, and then an exciting finish. Once Cuse and Lindelof got permission to set an end date and knew what they were moving towards, seasons 4 and 5 became much denser, both from week to week and over the course of each season. Season 6, on the other hand, has felt like a throwback, not just with the return of old characters like Charlie and Boone and, now, Libby, but with the way that we're heading into the home stretch with material that it feels the show would have been better-served to deal with sooner.

Though some of the early sideways stories were entertaining through the sheer force of personality of the actors/characters being spotlighted (Locke, Ben), there was nothing all that interesting about the sideways world itself until last week. By making Desmond aware of the wrongness of the world - and introducing other characters like Charlie and Faraday who also recognized this - we finally tied that world to the one we care about, and created some urgency to our visits to LA. But I'd have rather see this happen a few weeks into the season and not now, not only because it would have given greater purpose to some of those meandering flash-sideways stories like Jack's son or Jin's amazing adventure in the freezer, but because it feels like now that we have a sideways story arc (Desmond tries to nudge the Oceanic passengers into realizing that this world isn't right), the resolution of it is going to feel rushed.

A woman was killed in downtown Washington, D.C., on Monday when her bicycle collided with a National Guard vehicle that was part of the security motorcade for the ongoing nuclear summit, authorities said.

The collision took place shortly after 6 p.m. at the intersection of 12th Street and New York Avenue - about five blocks from the convention center where world leaders from nearly 50 nations are gathered for the two-day summit.

A brief statement from the summit's Joint Information Center offered no details on whether the cyclist hit the 2-and-a-half-ton truck, often referred to as "deuce and a half," or if the truck ran into the woman.

The gathering at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in the nation's capital began Monday. It is considered an unprecedented effort to rally global action on securing vulnerable nuclear materials.

It also is the centerpiece of a major objective by President Obama that aims to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and technology.

IT major company Infosys Technologies has announced its earnings for the fourth quarter (infosys q4 results).

Basis of Consolidated, The Infosys Technologies company’s 2.21% net profit grew Rs 1617 crore for the quarter ended 31st March, 2010 as against Rs 1582 crore in the sequential period.

Net sales was at Rs 5944 crore in the March quarter from Rs 5741 crore in the October-December period.

Net sales stood at Rs 22,742 crore for the year ended March 31, 2010 against Rs 21693 crore in the corresponding period previous year.

The company has recommended a final dividend of Rs.15 per equity share.

Revenues during the period stood at Rs 5,944 crore.

The Infosys company has recommended final dividend of Rs 15/ per share.

Hero Honda has slipped 4% to Rs 2,003 and Infosys is down 1.5% at Rs 2,644.

Reliance Communication, Tata Motors, Sterlite, ICICI Bank have slipped 1% each.

Hindustan Unilever, Wipro, BHEL and Tata Power have added 0.5% each at Rs 225, Rs 706, Rs 2,541 and Rs 1,350, respectively.

The Infosys company has reported 4.64 per cent arise in net profit at Rs 6266 crore for the year ended March 31, 2010 as against Rs 5988 crore in the same period previous year.

Infosys, sector leader Tata Consultancy Services, and third-ranked Wipro have revived hiring, signaling improving demand for the outsourcing industry.

But the export-driven firms, which handle complex computer networks and maintain technology operations for many Fortune 500 companies, are facing pressure on profit margins from a stronger rupee, rising wages and competition from global players.

Infosys shares, valued at $35 billion, grew 0.4 percent in Jan-March in line with the broader market and slightly lagging a 1 percent rise in the sector index.
