Television and Broadway actress Caroline McWilliams has died from complications of multiple myeloma, the Los Angeles Times reports.
McWilliams, 64, died February 11 at her home in Los Angeles, her family confirmed to the LA Times.
McWilliams is best known for her roles as Marcy Hill on the ’80s series ‘Benson‘ starring Robert Guillaume, and as Sally on ‘Soap,’ the show that ‘Benson’ was spun-off from.
Born in Seattle and raised in Rhode Island, McWilliams earned a Bachelor’s degree at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh before getting her big break in television in 1969 when she was cast as a regular on ‘Guiding Light.’ She also worked on ‘Another World’ and later on ‘Beverly Hills, 90210.’
Her work in theater included a role in the original Broadway cast of ‘Cat on the Hot Tin Roof’ in 1975, as well as parts in ‘The Rothschilds,’ ‘Boccacio’ and productions for the New York Shakespeare Festival and off-Broadway in the American Shakespeare Festival.
McWilliams was married to actor Michael Keaton from 1982-1990 and they have one son together, Sean Maxwell Douglas, age 26.
