Dubai February 20, 2010: If there is any female singer who can blend effortlessly in different styles and carry off compositions with complete grace, only one name comes to mind - Sunidhi Chauhan. And she didnt disappoint her more than 500 fans at her weekend performance in Dubai.
The 28-year-old singer was here in Dubai to perform at the Madinat Jumeirah under the auspices of Oberoi Entertainment. In her four-hour performance, Sunidhi merged freshness with talent to take her fans through some of the timeless compositions. Oscillating between the energetic "Shut Up & Dance" (Dostana) to the sentimental "Bhaage Re Man Kahi" (Chameli) to the boisterous "Beedi Jalailey" (Om Kara), Sunidhi kept the music lovers guessing about her next number and wanting for more.
The singer showed a humorous facet to her personality when she punctuated her performance with mimicry. And if that was not enough, she also paid tribute to her favourite singer Whitney Houston by crooning "I will Always Love You".
The rest of the evening was peppered by foot-stomping numbers such as "Maa Da Laadla" (Dostana), "Mind-Blowing Mahiya" (Cash), "Chor Bazaari" (Love Aaj Kal)
In her short stint in the Bollywood playback scene, Sunidhi has already 2,000 songs to her credit and along with Shreya Ghosal, has emerged as the voice of the younger generation of actors. In 2000, she had won the R.D. Burman for the "Most Promising Newcomer". Since then, collecting awards has become second nature to her.
Some of Sunidhis popular numbers are "Ruki Ruki Thi Zindagi" (Mast), "Kaisi Paheli" (Parineeta), "Dance Pe Chance" (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi), "Bhumro" (Mission Kashmir), "Crazy Kiya Re" (Dhoom 2), among others.
