24 suspended | Kiefer Sutherland undergoes surgery | Shooting on ‘24’ suspended | Ruptured Cyst | Windows Phone

Kiefer Sutherland has taken time out from work to undergo a minor operation.

Shooting on the ninth season of terrorist drama, 24, has come to a halt because the actor is suffering from a ruptured cyst.

Bosses on the show say they encouraged Kiefer to have the surgery now, rather than waiting six weeks until they finish filming the series.

"We are temporarily suspending production of 24 while our friend and colleague Kiefer Sutherland undergoes a medical procedure," a spokesperson for the show says.

"We hope to resume production shortly and do not anticipate any disruption in the broadcast of this season's episodes."

The Canadian star is expected back at the 'office' in a matter of days.
