Denmark Women s Curling Team Beats Team USA at Winter Olympics 2010
The impressive performance of Denmark women’s curling team continued their impressive performance at winter Olympics by beating team USA by 8 – 5. On the other hand the disappointment journey for the U.S. Women’s Olympic Curling team continued and they lost the match in which they easily could have won at several points.
The game was evenly balanced when it came to committing strategy errors and terrible shots, but women’s curling team won because team USA seemed to miss in all clutch opportunity.
US was lagging by 2-0 until the third end, but came back stronger in third to tie the game by gaining 2 points and was leading by 4-2 in the fifth end.
The turning points of the game were the sixth and seventh ends, where in sixth US were leading with a chance to seal the victory U.S. Skip Debbie McCormick opted to set a guard but shot long and left the Danish squad with a chances to draw the game for a point instead of losing three.
Denmark’s Madeleine DuPont, who had missed every draw so far, managed to lay a stone onto the edge of the four foot ring, shrinking the gap to one point.
In the seventh attempt, American, Allison Pottinger missed poorly on a takeout tries. The entire game was a series of missed shots and opportunities for Team US and Denmark women’s curling team, some of the misses were astoundingly bad, and some of the approach calls were impractical to fathom.
