Stanzi, Iowa Lead Ga Tech in Orange Bowl | Ricky Stanzi threw for 220 yards and two first-quarter touchdowns

Ricky Stanzi threw for 220 yards and two first-quarter touchdowns, and No. 10 Iowa's defense clamped down on No. 9 Georgia Tech as the Hawkeyes took a 17-7 lead over the Yellow Jackets into the fourth quarter of the Orange Bowl on Tuesday night.

Playing for the first time since Nov. 7 after surgery on a badly sprained right ankle, Stanzi completed 15 of 23 passes, with one big mistake — an interception Jerrard Tarrant ran back 40 yards for a touchdown with 24 seconds left in the first quarter, Stanzi's only incompletion in his first 10 attempts.

Other than that, the first half was all Iowa, even with the Hawkeyes turning the ball over twice. The scoreboard didn't show the extent of how much Iowa controlled the half, outgaining Georgia Tech 257-32 by intermission.

And in the third quarter, the Yellow Jackets didn't make much of a dent.

The Yellow Jackets nearly tripled their yardage total on the opening drive of the second half. What had been a dominant Iowa showing suddenly seemed tenuous, but Scott Blair's 41-yard field goal attempt was short and right. And although Georgia Tech gained 59 yards, its eighth possession ended just like its first seven — pointless.

At least it wasn't a punt.

By halftime, Georgia Tech had already matched a season high with six punts, a stunning development for a team that had a total of seven in its previous five games. The Yellow Jackets entered with the nation's second-ranked rushing offense, the spread option piling up more than 300 yards per game.

But in the first half of this Orange Bowl, Georgia Tech's rushing offense was colder than the air: 18 carries for 32 yards, punctuated by Josh Nesbitt getting sacked for a 14-yard loss on the final play of the half.

And the team went three-and-out only 14 times in its first 13 games, the fewest in the country, didn't get their initial first down against Iowa until 7:20 remained in the half. It was the Yellow Jackets' only first down of the half, too. Iowa led that department 11-1 at intermission, and 15-6 entering the final quarter.

Girl power, bat and ball included

Tarannum Pathan is skipper of under-14 girls' team, the only girls' team to be allowed in the all-boys cricket
tourney in Vadodara, Gujarat.

This is the first-ever unisex match to be played under the aegis BCCI.

"We have really practiced hard for this tournament. And we excited that first time at this level a girls' team has been allowed. After playing in the under-14 level, we are hopeful that we will be playing at the under-18 level. Seems little tough but are hoping that we could make to the finals at least," said Tarannum Pathan, Captain.

Coach Tushar Arothe is a former Ranji player. It was at his insistence, the Baroda Cricket Association allowed the girls to play.

"It's a big thing that the girls' team has been allowed. I am grateful to the BCA for allowing the team to play. It's only through these initiatives that we can have a more strong women's team in the country," said Tushar Arothe, Coach.

A nervous boy's team captain said that his boys are ready to give their best shot.

"We were little nervous considering we had never played a girls' team. But I told my boys we cannot be lax, we have to take the match seriously," said Rishav Shah, Captain.

And surely it was no easy match.

Though the girls folded up for 134, they managed to restrict the boys to 18 runs in 13 overs at the end of Day 1.

College of Charleston beats No. 9 North Carolina 82-79 victory in OT

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Andrew Goudelock's long 3-pointer tied the game with 2 seconds left in regulation, Donavan Monroe gave College of Charleston the lead for
good with a 3 to start overtime and the Cougars beat No. 9 North Carolina 82-79 on Monday night.

The Tar Heels (11-4) had trailed most of the game, but used a late run to take a 72-61 lead with 4 minutes to go. That's when Goudelock and the Cougars (8-6) got going.

Goudelock scored the last 8 points in regulation, including the fadeaway 3 f

rom about 28 feet with 6-foot-10 Ed Davis in his face to make it 73-all.

Monroe hit the go-ahead 3-pointer and his two free throws with 18 seconds left provided the final margin.

Charleston beat a ranked opponent for the first time since defeating the third-ranked Tar Heels 66-64 on Dec. 5, 1998.

Goudelock scored 24 points, while Davis had 18 points and 16 rebounds.

North Carolina's Dexter Strickland missed a layup with 4 seconds left. Davis' cross-court pass with less than a second to go was picked off by Monroe and the celebration began.

Monroe clutched the basketball as time ran out and fans rushed the court at the Carolina First Arena. Charleston coach Bobby Cremins had his share of success at Georgia Tech for nearly two decades, going 12-33 against the Tar Heels.

This one figured to be out of his team's reach, however, especially after North Carolina took the 72-61 lead.

But the Cougars called on their long-range shooting to pull out the victory. Goudelock hit two of his four 3s the rest of the way.

In all, Charleston was 13 of 32 from behind the arc. North Carolina's only 3-pointer came in overtime when Larry Drew II cut Charleston's lead to 82-79.

That's as close as the Tar Heels got.

That they were in this at all was because of their size and accuracy at the free throw line. North Carolina outrebounded Charleston 56-36 and was 24 of 34 from the line to the Cougars' 3-of-6 showing.

Casaan Breeden and Monroe had 15 points each for the Cougars.

Deon Thompson added 17 points for the Tar Heels.

North Carolina's starting backcourt of Drew and Strickland were a combined 5 of 21 from the field for 17 points.

Charleston had never hosted a team ranked as high as No. 9 North Carolina and many Cougar fans wore wigs of Cremins' signature bleach white hair.

North Carolina coach Roy Williams has a beach home just north of the city in the Wild Dunes resort and, with the university on winter break, brought the Tar Heels in on Saturday night with the team staying at the swanky Charleston Place hotel.

NFL Releases Playoff Schedule 2010 As Fans Prepare | NFL | NFL Playoff Schedule | NFL Playoffs | NFL Playoff Picture | NFL Standings

The NFL has released the NFL Playoff Schedule 2010. The schedule solidifies the TV schedule, though of course, with the exception of the wild-card weekend, the entirety of the schedule can't be known until some games are played.

The NFL Playoff Schedule 2010, in the opening weekend, shows a number of interesting match-ups. While wild-card teams are at a distinct disadvantage in the playoffs, as they play on the road the entire time, if they can continue to win.

Of course, last year, the Arizona Cardinals, who almost nobody thought could go anywhere, made it all the way to the Super Bowl. Many felt the Cardinals should have won.

The NFL Playoff Schedule 2010 for Wild-Card Weekend is as follows:

Saturday, January 9th

AFC Wild Card Game (1:30 P.M. PST on NBC)
NFC Wild Card Game (5:00 P.M. PST on NBC)

Sunday, January 10th

NFC Wild Card Game (10:00 A.M. PST on Fox)
AFC Wild Card Game (1:30 P.M. PST on CBS)

As yet, the NFL Playoff Schedule 2010 has not set the exact teams that will play on each day. That won't be set until after the final results of the CIN vs. NYJ game. The Jets need to win, otherwise HOU will make the playoffs.

Considering that the NYJ are leading the Bengals, who have nothing to gain by playing their regulars, 27-0 in the 3rd quarter, it's safe to assume the NYJ will be in the wildcard.

This would mean the following will be the matchups in the NFL Playoff Schedule 2010, wild-card weekend, AFC:

Baltimore Ravens (9-7) at New England Patriots (10-6), Gillette Stadium
Jets (8-7, likely 9-7) or Texans (9-7, only if Jets lose) at Cincinnati Bengals (10-5), Paul Brown Stadium

The matchups in the NFL Playoff Schedule 2010, wild-card weekend, NFC:

Philadelphia (11-5) at 3. Dallas Cowboys (11-5), Cowboys Stadium
Green Bay Packers (11-5) at Arizona Cardinals (10-6), Univ. of Phoenix Stadium

The NFL Playoff Schedule 2010 for the Divisional Playoffs is as follows:

Saturday, January 16th

AFC Divisional Playoff Game (CBS)
NFC Divisional Playoff Game (Fox)

Sunday, January 17th

AFC Divisional Playoff Game (CBS)
NFC Divisional Playoff Game (Fox)

While the exact match-ups are TBD, in terms of which day they will play, the matchups in the NFL Playoff Schedule 2010, Divisional Playoff weekend, AFC:

Wild-card winner at No 2 seed, San Diego Chargers (13-3), Qualcomm Stadium
Wild-card winner at No 1 seed, Indianapolis Colts (14-2), Lucas Oil Stadium

The matchups in the NFL Playoff Schedule 2010, Divisional Playoff weekend, NFC:

Wild-card winner at No 2 seed, Minnesota Vikings (12-4), Metrodome
Wild-card winner at No 1 seed, New Orleans Saints (13-3), Louisiana Superdome

The NFL Playoff Schedule 2010 for the Conference Championships is as follows:

Sunday January 24th

AFC Championship Game (CBS) at highest seed
NFC Championship Game (Fox) at highest seed

Super Bowl XLIV

Sunday, February 7th

AFC Champion vs. NFC Champion (CBS)

23 Utah Defeats Cal 37-21 in SDCCU Poinsettia Bowl | Poinsetta Bowl | Poinsettia Bowl 2009 | Utes | Pointsettia Bowl | University Of Utah Football

The #23-ranked Utah Utes, behind an impressive performance from quarterback Jordan Wynn, defeated the Cal Golden Bears 37-27 in the fifth annual San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.

The Utes were led by freshman quarterback Jordan Wynn, a graduate of Oceanside High School. Wynn lit up the Cal defense most of the night as he completed 26 of 36 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns earning him the game's Offensive MVP trophy.

After two early first quarter scores by the Bears, the Utes came roaring back as they scored 27 unanswered points to take the lead for good. The Utes took their first lead of the game on a 15-yard touchdown pass to Kendrick Moeai, his second TD reception of the night.

The Utes extended their nation-best bowl game winning streak to nine games with their victory over the Bears. The Bears had their four-game bowl winning streak snapped tonight.

The Utah defense wreaked havoc in the Cal backfield all night, as they sacked Kevin Riley five times, intercepted him twice and forced a fumble.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Cal made one last attempt to bring themselves within one score of the Utes, but their hopes died when Utah linebacker Stevenson Sylvester intercepted Kevin Riley at the 27-yard line and returned it for a touchdown to extend the Utes lead to 37-21 with 5:27 left on the clock. Sylvester finished as the game's Defensive MVP.
The Golden Bears got on the scoreboard first, scoring touchdowns on offense and defense on back-to-back plays midway through the first quarter. Shane Vereen capped a five play, 54-yard drive with a 36-yard touchdown for the game's first score. On the very next Utah play from scrimmage, Cal's Eddie Young intercepted a pass by Wynn and returned it 31-yards for a touchdown.

But Utah didn't wait any longer to get on the scoreboard. After kick returner Shaky Smithson gave Utah great field position after a 61-yard kickoff return, the Utah offense put together a quick 30-yard scoring drive, capped off by a Jordan Wynn 6-yard pass to Kendrick Moeai.

In their first possession of the second quarter, Utah engineered a nine play, 65-yard drive to the Cal 11-yard line before place kicker Joe Phillips kicked a 28-yard field goal to bring the Utes within four points, 14-10. On their very next possession, Utah took advantage of good field position as Wynn led them on a quick eight play, 56-yard drive ending with Moeai's touchdown in the back of the endzone.

Utah's defense stepped up in the second quarter, as they forced consecutive three-and-outs by the Bears' offense. With the Utah offense out on the field once again, Wynn wasted no time as he completed a 29-yard pass to WR Eddie Wide, and then followed that up with a 21-yard touchdown pass to Jereme Brooks to extend the Utes lead to 24-14.

After a high-scoring first half, both teams relied on their defenses to begin the second half. The Utes and Bears traded possessions without scoring until the Utes kicked a field goal with just over four minutes left in the quarter after Cal quarterback Kevin Riley fumbled as he was sacked at his own 14-yard line.

Cal responded quickly as Riley completed passes of 30, 19, and 11 yards on their next possession to set up a 1-yard touchdown run by Shane Vereen. The touchdown cut the Utes' lead to 27-21 going into the fourth quarter.

The Utes extended their lead to 30-21 early in the fourth quarter on Joe Phillips' 25-yard field goal, his third of the game. The kick came after another long pass play from Wynn, this one a 39-yard strike to David Reed deep into Cal territory.

After pinning the Bears in their own endzone, the Utes defense stepped up as they sacked Riley for a loss two playes before Sylvester intercepted him and returned it for the clinching touchdown.

UConn Star Has an Eye on Oxford | HARTFORD — Maya Moore of Connecticut is a first-team

HARTFORD — Maya Moore of Connecticut is a first-team all-American on the basketball court and in the classroom, which means there are points to be scored, averages to be kept and scholarships to seek on more than one level.

At the urging of her academic advisers, Moore, a 6-foot junior forward who is the consensus best player in the country, said she was considering applying for a Rhodes scholarship. If selected for 2011, she would be the most prominent basketball player chosen since Bill Bradley in 1965 and Tom McMillen in 1974.

“I don’t think you can say that one aspect of my life built my perspective,” Moore, 20, said in an interview before scoring 23 points as top-ranked UConn defeated second-ranked Stanford, 80-68, here Wednesday. “It is a combination of my faith, my family, the people I’ve met at Connecticut and understanding that basketball is a platform for something bigger than the game, helping people, touching people’s lives. You can do that internationally with basketball.”

Of the 12 athletes chosen among 32 Americans as Rhodes scholars for 2009, two played women’s basketball in college — Caitlin Mullarkey, who also played soccer and ran track at Swarthmore; and Lindsay Whorton, an all-Missouri Valley Conference player at Drake. Rebecca Lobo of UConn was a candidate in 1995.

Moore, who has a 3.7 grade point average in sports media and promotion, could not say exactly what broadened her perspective in college. But she noted that she had traveled internationally with USA Basketball, playing in Serbia and in Slovakia. In November 2008, she got out of practice early and sprinted to a lecture by the author and poet Maya Angelou — after whom she was named because her mother admired Angelou’s work.

“She represents so many things, not just for African-Americans, but for our country,” Moore said at the time. “I think of her like a Barack Obama — one of the first icons for us.”

Moore later met President Obama when UConn traveled to the White House after winning the 2009 national title with an undefeated season. She was named both the national player of the year and a first-team academic all-American.

“I felt a deeper appreciation for the founders of this nation,” Moore wrote in a blog post after visiting the White House. “We truly do live in an amazing country. Actually walking where some of our great leaders have walked gave me chills! Meeting President Obama was as enjoyable as advertised, and he left an inspiring impression on us all.”

The fact that the president took time to shoot a few baskets with the players “made me remember what life is all about,” Moore wrote. “It is about investing in people and having faith that the love you impart on them will somehow make the world better than it was.”

She said she had not yet considered whether she, too, might be interested in a political career, as were Bradley and McMillen, who served in the United States Senate and the House of Representatives, respectively. Still, reflecting on her trip to the White House, Moore said, “When you have those type of experiences, you start thinking bigger than yourself.”

The application process for a Rhodes scholarship is complicated and arduous. Geno Auriemma, the UConn coach, said that for Moore to be a serious candidate, she must find a deeply felt subject to study at Oxford. She might have to delay her entry into the W.N.B.A., where she is expected to be the first pick in the 2011 draft. But it is a summer league, and Moore said she thinks she could juggle her academic and athletic responsibilities.

“Does she have a passion for one thing that will take her in that direction, like, ‘I want to be the greatest writer ever; I want to get my Ph.D. in this and I think this is the one thing that consumes my life’? ” Auriemma said. “I think you have to have a single-mindedness in order to do that. Some people do and some don’t.”

A chance to play in the 2012 Olympics could also play a factor in her decision, although Moore might find herself in an accommodating position. Auriemma will coach the United States women’s team at those Games, which will be held in London.

Still, athletes can feel tremendous pressure when applying for a Rhodes scholarship, Auriemma said. They excel at their chosen sports because they are in control and are often able to influence the outcome of a game. They become more vulnerable when putting their futures to a vote of a panel of judges.

“The chances of getting turned down are greater than being accepted,” Auriemma said. “You’ve got to be willing at the end to maybe be disappointed. Some of the great ones don’t like to put themselves in a situation where they can’t control the outcome. On the court, the scoreboard is the only vote that counts. But for these kids to put themselves in a situation of applying for a Rhodes scholarship takes courage. They have zero control. I admire anyone in that position. If Maya wanted to, I would do everything in my power to help her see it through.”

Whether Moore applies or not, and is accepted or rejected, she seems to have an insatiable appetite for knowledge and expertise of all sorts, said Kalana Greene, a teammate. “If there is an opportunity out there to get something, she goes and gets it,” Greene said. “She’s a great communicator. She can talk to anyone. We always crack on her, ‘Maya you’re not good at everything,’ but really she is. She’s even a good drummer. She can listen to any song, gather the beat and she has it.”

Texas A&M Loses Roland to Injury

SEATTLE -- Texas A&M senior Derrick Roland suffered a gruesome leg injury and was taken from the court on a stretcher early in the second half against Washington (No. 19 ESPN/USA Today, No. 22 AP) on Tuesday night.

Roland, one of the leading defenders in the Big 12 Conference and the Aggies' (No. 19 AP) second-leading scorer, crashed hard to the court after jumping under the basket, apparently breaking his lower right leg.

Coach Mark Turgeon ran on the court while play continued at the other end. Roland's teammates were distraught -- leading scorer and fellow senior Donald Sloan buried his head in his jersey and was helped to the bench.

Four University of Washington doctors and trainers rushed to Roland, who remained on his back, arms over his eyes.

After about 10 minutes, he was removed on the stretcher wearing an air cast and loaded onto an ambulance that took him across town to Harborview Medical Center.

Roland, who scored a career-high 21 points earlier this season at Southern Methodist, was alert inside the ambulance. He was holding his head up as an IV was started in his arm and the ambulance drove away from the back of the arena.

Washington went on a 15-4 run to take control of the game after Roland's injury and the delay.

The Aggies are staying in Seattle after the game and are not due to leave until around sunrise Wednesday morning.

Giants Rout Redskins | Remain in NFC Hunt | Giants Missing 2 DBs, McKenzie Against Redskins

LANDOVER, Md. — For the New York Giants, Monday night's game against the Washington Redskins presented two clear realities: Win and remain in decent contention for a wild-card playoff berth. Lose and be reduced to a mathematical long shot.

They responded in emphatic fashion, building a 24-point halftime lead and going on to a 45-12 rout that keeps them in the NFC postseason hunt. The Giants, who won their first five games before losing the next four, are 8-6. The Redskins fell to 4-10.

New York's defense stuffed Washington's offense when it mattered most, holding the Redskins to 78 yards in the first half. The Giants sacked Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell five times and picked off three passes, one of which was returned 14 yards for a score by Terrell Thomas.

The offense, meanwhile, hummed along behind quarterback Eli Manning, who completed 19 of 26 passes for 268 yards and three TDs before sitting down in favor of David Carr. New York scored on its first four possessions and by halftime many fans at FedEx Field headed toward the exits.

Any chance the Giants had of winning the NFC East was snuffed Sunday when the division-leading Philadelphia Eagles beat the San Francisco 49ers, leaving only the Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys with a shot. Philadelphia beat New York in a 45-38 shootout a week earlier.

The Giants began the game with an 80-yard touchdown drive, capped by a 3-yard run by Ahmad Bradshaw. After a Redskins punt, New York drove down the field again, with Bradshaw taking the ball in from 4 yards for a 14-0 lead.

It was the first game for new Redskins general manager Bruce Allen, who last week replaced Vinny Cerrato as the team's personnel chief. Allen's father, the late George Allen, coached the team in the 1970s and led them to a Super Bowl appearance.

More than 1,200 workers were recruited to clear an estimated 25 million pounds of snow from the stadium, the result of a weekend storm that pounded the region.

Jacksonville | Jacksonville Weather | Jacksonville Florida | Jacksonville Jaguars Stadium | Jaguars Colts |

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Peyton Manning completed every pass early and one big one late, exactly what the Indianapolis Colts needed to stay unbeaten.

Manning threw for 308 yards and four touchdowns, including a 65-yarder to Reggie Wayne to go ahead for good, and the Colts beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 35-31 Thursday night to improve to 14-0 for the first time in franchise history.

The wild game on a cool night included 714 yards, 43 first downs, 10 lead changes, six punts, several big plays and just two turnovers.

"I thought today was a great test against a good team," Manning said. "Feel real good about the win."

The Jaguars (7-7) had a chance to win it in the closing minutes, but David Garrard overthrew Mike Thomas on a third-and-10 play with about a minute to play. Jacob Lacey intercepted the ball, and the Colts ran out the clock.

Indianapolis extended its NFL-record winning streak in the regular season to 23 and became the third 14-0 team in league history, joining the 1972 Miami Dolphins and 2007 New England Patriots. New Orleans can join the list with a victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night.

Jacksonville lost for the third time in the four games and no longer controls its fate in the AFC wild-card race.

They have Manning to thank for this one.

He completed his first 13 passes and was nearly as efficient as he was in last year's game in Jacksonville, when he completed 17 in a row.

Manning finished 23 of 30, picking apart Jacksonville's secondary early and often. Wayne caught five passes for 132 yards. Dallas Clark had seven receptions for 95 yards and two scores.

The Jaguars, who have lost eight of 10 in the series, got in a shootout with Manning & Co., which turned out to be a huge mistake.

Garrard was 23 of 40 for 223 yards with three touchdowns. Maurice Jones-Drew ran 27 times for 110 yards and a score. But once the Jaguars got behind and abandoned the running game, they had trouble sustaining drives.

All that talk about Indy resting some of its key players turned out to be pretty just speculation. Sure, defensive ends Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis played sparingly, but Manning, Wayne, Clark and the other stars played the entire game.

And did most of the damage.

The dagger came with 5:23 remaining, when Manning found Wayne streaking down the sideline for the 65-yarder. Safety Reggie Nelson seemed to bite on a pump fake, allowing Wayne to get behind the coverage. It was the biggest play in a second half that didn't quite live up to the opening 30 minutes.

"Reggie just used his speed," Manning said. "What a great job once he caught the ball to get into the end zone."

The first half was a back-and-forth affair that included 336 yards, 57 plays, 38 points, 23 first downs, one penalty, no turnovers and not a single punt. The half took a little more than an hour to play, so fast that the league's broadcast representative spent the final few minutes scrambling to plug in all the TV timeouts.

Manning was perfect, completing 12 of 12 passes for 116 yards and had touchdown passes to Clark and Austin Collie. Clark made a sliding grab in the back of the end zone for a 6-yard score and a 7-3 lead early in the second quarter. Collie's catch, a 23-yarder on a seam route that he briefly bobbled at the goal line, put Indy ahead 21-17 with 35 seconds remaining.

The Jaguars got in field-goal range just before halftime, but Josh Scobee came up well short on a 57-yard attempt.

Jacksonville played a near perfect half on offense. Garrard completed 12 of 16 passes for 97 yards, and one of his best plays of the season resulted in a touchdown.

He faked a handoff, rolled left on a bootleg, then spun around and headed across the field. Maurice Jones-Drew, who had been blocking on the play, released toward the end zone and Garrard lofted a perfect pass for the score.

Jones-Drew, who averaged 69 yards rushing the last four games, ran 14 times for 73 yards in the first half. There had been rumors that 5-foot-7 dynamo was slowed by a sore knee. He looked fully healthy against Indy.

Elin Nordegren Mother Barbro Holmberg Hospitalized

elin nordegren mother, elin nordegren s mother, elin woods mother, holmberg, barbo holmberg

Elin Nordegren's mother, Barbro Holmberg is identified as the woman taken from Tiger Woods' home in an ambulance. Barbro Holmberg is a Swedish politician, and TMZ is reporting that she was rushed to the hospital after complaining of stomach pains. Tiger Woods' mother-in-law is most likely in the US to support her daughter, Elin Nordegren Woods, during this tumultuous time.

Conflicting reports from the Fire Department indicate that the call may not have actually come from Tiger Woods' home. The emergency call could have come from another home nearby, which matches stories that Elin Nordegren moved out of the Woods residence. Barbro Holmberg may be the "middle-aged" woman with "blondish-gray" hair that was seen being wheeled away in an ambulance this morning.

The woman taken, presumably from Tiger Woods home, in an ambulance was taken to the same hospital that treated Tiger Woods after his November 27th car accident. A blonde woman in an SUV with tags only one character off from the tags of the car involved in Tiger's accident was seen arriving at the hospital. This makes it sound like TMZ's report that Barbro Holmberg, Elin Nordegren's mother, could have been the lady taken away in the ambulance.

If the patient was indeed Barbro Holmberg, reports indicate that she has been released from the hospital.

Davidson County residents are following the Tiger Woods story very closely. Tiger Woods has another Florida residence that is in the same neighborhood as Grand Ole Opry member and country music super star Alan Jackson.

OCOEE, Fla. (AP) - Emergency crews were summoned to Tiger Woods' Orlando-area mansion for the second time in less than two weeks Tuesday, this time because his mother-in-law was having stomach pains.
Barbro Holmberg was taken by ambulance to Health Central Hospital after someone called 911 about 2:35 a.m., hospital spokesman Dan Yates said. She was in stable condition later Tuesday and her condition was not serious, but Yates said he could not be more specific because of privacy laws.

Tiger's Troubles

Tiger Woods Can't get enough? We've got all the latest on Tiger.
Holmberg, who arrived in the U.S. a few days ago, lives in Sweden and is the mother of Woods' wife, Elin.
Health Central is the same hospital where Woods was treated after he crashed his sport utility vehicle outside his home in the gated Isleworth community in Windermere last month.
Yates said Holmberg was in a private room and the family has hired additional security to keep the media away. He said family members have visited, but he would not say which ones.
"She's in a wing that helps protect her privacy," Yates said.
Media attention has been focused on the world's No. 1 golfer since he hit a hydrant and a tree around 2:25 a.m. on Nov. 27.
The Florida Highway Patrol last week cited Woods for careless driving and fined him $164.
The accident - and Woods' refusal to answer questions about it - fueled speculation about a possible dispute between him and Elin.
Just days before the crash, a National Enquirer story alleged Woods had been seeing a New York nightclub hostess, Rachel Uchitel, who has denied it. After the crash, Us Weekly reported that a Los Angeles cocktail waitress named Jaimee Grubbs claims she had a 31-month affair with Woods.
Last week, Woods issued a statement saying he had let his family down with unspecified "transgressions" that he regrets with "all of my heart." He did not elaborate.
A police report on the crash released Monday showed that a Florida trooper who suspected Woods was driving under the influence sought a subpoena for the golfer's blood results from the hospital he was taken to after the crash, but prosecutors rejected the petition for insufficient information.
A witness, who wasn't identified in the report, told trooper Joshua Evans that Woods had been drinking alcohol earlier. The same witness also said Woods had been prescribed two drugs, the sleep aid Ambien and the painkiller Vicodin.
The report did not say who the witness was but added it was the same person who pulled Woods from the vehicle after the accident. Woods' wife has told police that she used a golf club to smash the back windows of the Cadillac Escalade to help her husband out. His injuries were minor.
The sister of a neighbor who called 911 after the crash told troopers that Holmberg and Woods' mother were also at the scene, but the AP has not been able to confirm that.
Eva Malmborg, a spokeswoman for Holmberg, said she was informed by a family member that Holmberg was admitted to a hospital in Florida due to stomach pains but was feeling well "considering the circumstances."
Malmborg said that as far as she knows, Holmberg doesn't suffer from any disease.
Holmberg's deputy, Olov Rydberg, said in a statement that Holmberg is expected back at her job as Gavleborg county governor in central-east Sweden next week.

Alicia Sacramone Photos | Alicia sacramone brady quinn Dating News

Browns quarterback Brady Quinn has a thing for athletes. First it was soccer players and now it's gymnast Alicia Sacramone.

During the 2007 NFL Draft, as Quinn waited for nearly six hours in the Aaron Rodgers Memorial Green Room to hear his name called, then-girlfriend and former Miami of Ohio soccer player Lindy Singler loyally sat by his side as one team after another passed on the Notre Dame quarterback.

During a recent chat on the USA Gymnastic's official web site, Sacramone openly talked about her relationship with Quinn. (Via SportsbyBrooks and Larry Brown Sports):

USA Gymnastics: I hear you've been attending a lot of Cleveland Browns football games lately. Can you talk about that?

Alicia: Yes, I have become a football fan. I was always a football fan but never into it too much until now. I'm dating Brady Quinn (the quarterback for Cleveland) so I travel to Cleveland on Sunday afternoons for home games.

Can't think of a better way to spend a winter than traveling back and forth to Cleveland to watch your boyfriend take a weekly beating. Of course, maybe Sacramone's responsible for toughening Quinn up:

It's also not clear what this means for the impromptu YMCA-inspired wedding reception performances.

In related "Hey, look who that NFL quarterback is dating!" news, the Rams' Kyle Boller is making time with Carrie Prejean, the former Miss USA runner-up who made headlines for her views on same-sex marriage, as well as her one-woman sex tape. (Still, it's an improvement over Tara Reid, even if she was at the height of her fame and fresh off courting Tom Brady.)
